We went with a group of friends to Schramm’s Mead in Ferndale. Schramm’s offers several flavors of mead, though they were out of raspberry when we visited. I tried a mead cocktail that included their seasonal flavor of mead, pineapple-ginger infusion, as I’m not a huge fan of mead straight from the bottle (it can be too sweet for me). I really liked the cocktail. Dave first tried a flight of three meads: cherry (called the Statement), blackberry, and pineapple-ginger infusion. After his flight, he also tried a mead cocktail, a blackberry mojito. While he really enjoyed the flight, he was less impressed with the mojito.
Schramm’s has a small menu of snacks to enjoy with their mead. We ordered the European canape plate, which included slices of baguette with pesto, Cotswold cheese, and a marinated tomato. They were very tasty. Our friends enjoyed a cheese platter and a selection of Mediterranean snacks including prosciutto-wrapped breadsticks, cheese, and olives.
The servers were very friendly and enthusiastic. We really enjoyed ourselves and look forward to visiting again, we just wish it wasn’t so far away. We actually wish is was in Ann Arbor instead!
