Last week, Dave and I celebrated the anniversary of our first date. Usually, we recreate the date with lunch at Panera, but this year we wanted to try something different. So we had lunch at Le Dog in downtown Ann Arbor. Despite going to school for six years at the University of Michigan, I had never tried Le Dog, but Dave used to go all the time when he worked downtown. We visited the location on Main Street.
Both of us ordered a chili cheese dog and soup. We shared a lemonade (fyi-pop in not on the menu). The chili cheese dog was excellent. The hot dog was really delicious and probably twice the diameter of a standard hot dog. The chili had great flavor as did the cheese slices (no cheese whiz here!). I had the chicken tortilla soup which had excellent flavor and nice spice. It was served with shredded cheese and tortilla strips. Dave tried the golden harvest soup, which is a Filipino-style soup with coconut milk, black beans, squash, and pumpkin. It was served with a dollop of sour cream. He liked it too.
There is no seating at Le Dog (at either location), but it was a beautiful day outside so we sat on one of the tree planters along the street. I’m looking forward to our next Le Dog meal, I probably mentioned going again two or three times this weekend.
