Our first game of the day was Alhambra, which I’ve wanted to try since I watched the episode on TableTop. Dave and I enjoyed the game, but not as much as I thought. I’m glad we got to try it though as we have been considering purchasing it. I would play it again at an opening gaming event though.
Next up was Mammut, a game I’ve never even heard of, which we played with a couple other people (including Tammy from Tammy’s Tastings!). Mammut was really confusing to get going, it was hard to figure out our goal. It was fun once we got into it. However, Mammut is not a game I would purchase.
Finally, we played Flapjacks & Sasquatches with the same group of people we played Mammut with. Flapjacks & Sasquatches is a lumberjack-themed card game where your goal is to chop down your trees. Sounds simple enough, however everyone else is trying to get you to fail. It was a fun game and I’d imagine it would be a good family game as it plays up to 8 and is really straightforward.
While we were there, Dave enjoyed a beer and we tried a couple of things off their menu. For an appetizer, we had their cheddar and ale dip with beer bread which was very tasty. And for our entree, we split a spinach and feta pizza. I thought the pizza was excellent, super thin crust and very flavorful.
I’m not sure we’ll make it next month, but I’m looking forward to attending in the future.
