Another one checked off the Life List: Hike the Entire Potawatomi Trail in One Day! The Potawatomi Trail is located in the Pinckney Recreation Area, which is only about a 30 minute drive from our house. The trail itself is 17 miles long and it took us almost 9 hours to hike, including breaks. This one was definitely a tough one to accomplish. It was hot, it was humid, and it was very, very buggy. We didn’t do any specific training other than the walking we did to train for the Ann Arbor Half-Marathon last month. At around the 10 mile mark, we stopped at Blind Lake to soak our feet in the lake, eat some trail mix, and take a bit of a break. Around the same time, my left knee began to ache. The last 7 miles were tough and I was dragging, but I finished. Besides the sense of accomplishment I felt when we were finally done, we also stopped for a bit of a reward at A&W for root beer floats. And boy, did that taste good!
