After our drinks at the Sugar House bar, we headed over to the Mercury Burger Bar across the street. Most of their menu is made up of surprise…burgers, but they also have hotdogs and various sandwiches as well as several varieties of fries, onion rings, and milkshakes.
I had the classic burger with lettuce, tomato, cheddar cheese, and avocado. Dave and I shared an order of tater tots, which wonderfully crispy and rivaled the tots at the Wurst Bar. Katie and I shared a chocolate milkshake, it was thick, rich, and had great chocolate flavor. Dave and Katie both ordered the local burger which was topped with pulled BBQ pork, cheddar, slaw, pickles, and Dreamland BBQ sauce. Kyle ordered the S.W. Detroit burger which was topped with a chorizo slider, jalapeños, münster, tortilla strips, avocado, and pickled spiced carrots. I was tempted to order the S.W. Detroit burger myself, but I went the traditional route this time. All of the burgers were cooked really well and were served hot and fresh. Since it’s also a bar, a wide variety of alcohol is available to order, the guys both got beer.
Before our visit to the Mercury Burger Bar, where to eat in Corktown was always a simple answer, but now the choice will be difficult!
