A couple of weeks ago, Dave and I went to Angelo’s in downtown Ann Arbor for breakfast. Both of us have been to Angelo’s in the past, but we had not been there in a while so we thought we’d give it another go. Dave ordered the huevos rancheros which were excellent. I know because I was somewhat disappointed with the fried French toast I ordered so he offered to split. Isn’t he wonderful! I particularly liked the crispy tortilla that that eggs sat on and the ranchero sauce had very good flavor.
The fried French toast wasn’t bad, it just didn’t have a lot of flavor. I was expecting something more like French toast sticks, but instead I got large slices of deep friend bread. We didn’t eat it all and the leftovers were surprisingly better the next day. I had it with just syrup, but it was supposed to come with berries and whipped cream, perhaps it would have been better that way?
Despite me being less than thrilled with the fried French toast, I would definitely go back to back to Angelo’s especially early. We went before the rush and didn’t have to wait at all, which has never happened to us before at Angelo’s as it is usually very, very crowded.
