The Mexican restaurant in downtown Chelsea has a bit of an identity crisis. The sign outside says Pancho Villa, but a lot of their internal items like the drink menu say Las Fuentes. The restaurant was originally called Las Fuentes and it has since been taken over by Virginian-based Pancho Villa. This was our second time eating there and it looks like they made a few more strides in accepting their Pancho Villa identity. Nonetheless, what ever they call themselves, their food is very good! I didn’t have my camera the first time or the second time, but I was able to get a couple of shots with my phone.
On both occasions, I ordered the Pancho’s Empanadas which comes with one beef empanada, one chicken empanada, one chile relleno and it’s served with rice, beans, and a small side of Mexican white cheese sauce (super yummy). It’s a lot of food, this last time I ate the empanadas at the restaurant with the cheese sauce and took the rest home for another night. The empanadas are delicious, both of the fillings have great flavor, the crust is crisp and flaky and the cheese sauce is excellent.
Dave has tried the enchiladas verdes and the burritos (one chicken and one bean and cheese). He thought the enchiladas verdes were good, nothing special, but good. I think he liked the burritos better.
The restaurant is quite large (as is their menu, lots to choose from!) and has ample parking, we’ve found the service to be very good too.
