MSU Dairy Store

On the way home from Up North, we stopped in East Lansing at the MSU Dairy Store. We had tried their ice cream before at Katie and Kyle’s house and really enjoyed it. The ice cream (and cheese) is made as a part of the Food Science and Human Nutrition programs in the College of Agriculture and Natural Resources by students that are interested in careers in the dairy and food processing industries.
We thought a half gallon of their ice cream would make a nice thank you gift for Dave’s mom who had dog sat Pixel for us while we were on vacation. We bought her raspberry chocolate chunk and since we didn’t want to miss out, Dave and I ordered cones. I had a scoop of Maize-N-Berry, which is the kind I had tried at Katie and Kyle’s: Maize-N-Berry is a golden vanilla ice cream with a blueberry ribbon and pie crust pieces. It’s awesome. There’s almost a lemon flavor throughout as well. Dave ordered a scoop of Death by Chocolate which is chocolate ice cream loaded with chocolate chunks, fudge-covered almonds, broken Oreo cookies, and English toffee pieces. He thought it was good, but he liked mine better!
The MSU Dairy Store offers a lot of different flavors, including one for each school in the Big 10. I’d like to try the Ohio State flavor, it’s inspired by peanut butter buckeyes, but I’m not sure I could pass up Maize-N-Berry.
There are two locations on the MSU campus, one in Anthony Hall and one in the Union. Thanks again to Katie and Kyle for introducing us to the MSU Dairy Store and for the great directions so that we could find it!
