Old World Olive Press

We finally got around to visiting the Old World Olive Press in Plymouth to redeem the gift certificate my cousin gave us for Christmas. We got to fill four bottles of delicious olive oil and balsamic vinegar. We’d been to a shop like this before in South Haven, but Old World Olive Press has a bigger selection and we felt their oils and vinegars were better tasting.
They have a ton of flavors of both olive oil and balsamic vinegar. We tasted cilantro and roasted onion, basil, Tunisian harissa, and Tuscan herb olive oils and the majority of the flavors of balsamic vinegar: blueberry, dark chocolate, cinnamon pear, coconut, Sicilian lemon, vanilla, espresso, jalapeno, chili honey, and traditional.
In the end we picked out four different balsamic vinegars: espresso, blueberry, Sicilian lemon, and traditional. We’re planning on using the Sicilian lemon and traditional drizzled over vegetables like asparagus (balsamic vinegar will keep for three plus years so we’ll have it for next year’s asparagus crop!), Brussels sprouts, broccoli, and green beans. We’d like to try making blueberry balsamic BBQ sauce based on a recipe we got from the store. And who knows what we’re going to do with the espresso, it just tasted so good! I’m going to do a bit of research into desserts made with balsamic vinegar and see what I find.
