Local Favorites: Joe’s Produce
by Rebecca on June 14, 2012
Joe’s Produce is a specialty grocery store in Livonia. Besides the usual fruits and veggies, they also offer baked goods (breads, bagels, pastries), a huge deli with lunch meat and prepared entrees, including sushi, salad and olive bar, a nice selection of cheeses, coffee, and bulk foods and now they’ve added a meat market as well. I am at Joe’s at least once a week, but usually I’m there more often. It’s the closet grocery store to our house (if you don’t count Walmart, which I don’t). It’s so quick to run up there to get an ingredient that I’m missing.
We get all of our fruits and vegetables (except those from our garden) at Joe’s. The quality is great, though I wish that they offered more organic and local options. I also regularly buy hummus, tzatziki, yogurt, buttermilk, cheese, and bagels there. Their freshly squeeze orange juice is heavenly. Some of my favorite items that I recommend you try are their asiago bagels, smoke gouda cheese, and the espresso shooters (in the pastry case). If you’re lucky, they’ll have a ton of free samples out: orange juice, lunch meat, cheese, corn chips, fruit, even wine!
Joe’s regularly has special wine tasting dinners as well as other events, check out their Facebook page fore more information. They have a great selection of wines including many from Michigan.

It’s a chocolate shot “glass” filled with espresso mousse topped with a chocolate covered coffee bean. So yummy!
