The Hudson Cafe

Last Saturday, we crossed the The Hudson Cafe off of our Eating Out Wishlist! Over the holiday weekend we thought it would be nice to go our for breakfast/brunch. We had several places on our list, but we decided on The Hudson Cafe because their menu just looked SO good.
The Hudson Cafe is located on Woodward Avenue right across the street from where the old Hudson department store used to be located, go figure. With cafe in the name, I assumed the restaurant was going to be small and quaint. However, it’s quite large inside with a nice modern, but still welcoming, design. Dave decided to order the Monte Cristo French Toast and I ordered the Voodoo Bennie. We swapped plates halfway through!
The Monte Cristo French Toast was a twist on the original sandwich. It was made up of two pieces of French toast with a ham steak and Swiss cheese sandwiched between and topped with raspberry sauce and powdered sugar. It was VERY good…I could go for one now.
The Voodoo Bennie was a spin on the class Eggs Benedict (they had several on the menu). It was made up of a housemade corn cake with chorizo, cheddar cheese, and ranchero sauce. All of it was delicious, but oh my, that ranchero sauce would make pretty much anything taste divine.
Like usual, I’m already thinking about when we can go back. Dave has his eyes on the red velvet pancakes and I’m thinking either the huevos rancheros or Southern or pulled pork bennies. Or we could just order exactly what we got this time and I would still be darn happy.
