Life List: Skydiving
by Rebecca on May 24, 2012
Well, I crossed a big one of the Life List today, skydiving! Other than learn to scuba dive, this was probably the thing that I was most scared/nervous for that’s currently on my list. This morning, Dave said to me “Today’s the day! You want to go skydiving?!?” So we headed out to Skydive Tecumseh after we got ready and ate breakfast.
I was pretty nervous as we waited for our turn and during the plane ride up (to 14,000 feet!), but not nearly as nervous as I though I would be. And then after Dave jumped it was my turn, everything went so fast that I don’t think I had time to get any more scared than I already was! One second we were scooting along the bench to the door, a blink later my feet were out the door, and then another blink and we were in free fall! Free fall was both exciting and scary. I kept telling myself to remember to breathe. Then our chute deployed and the rest of the ride was actually quite relaxing. It was very quiet and with really no point of reference for our speed, I felt like we weren’t really moving. We glided down and I landed on my feet!
I still can’t believe I did that! And every time I think about it, I’m just grinning ear to ear!
