Sundance Film Festival

Last Thursday night, Dave and I enjoyed our second film from the Sundance Film Festival USA tour, “For a Good Time, Call…” Last year we saw “Cyrus,” which was just OK. However, “For a Good Time, Call…” was hilarious! I cannot remember the last time I’ve laughed so hard during a movie. “For a Good Time, Call…” is about two unlikely friends that for financial reasons are thrown together and they start a phone sex line. The movie is very raunchy (no nudity), but at the same time very sweet.
The film was directed by Jamie Travis and was written by Katie Anne Naylon and Lauren Anne Miller, who also stars with Ari Graynor, Justin Long, and Michigan’s own, James Wolk. The director, both writers, and James were at the Michigan Theater for a Q&A session after the film. For the most part, the audience asked interesting questions, but eventually I think they should have cut off the questions as it morphed into people just stating their opinions of the film without actually asking anything.
The film picked up a distribution deal with Focus Features during the Sundance Film Festival, so hopefully you’ll be able to see it in theaters soon. As for me, I’m planning on buying the DVD!
