Just after Christmas, Sarah and I met up at Sava’s Restaurant with a couple of friends. Sava’s (not to be confused with Seva just around the corner) is located on State Street in Ann Arbor, in the old Zanzibar location. Their menu is quite diverse, but we stuck with drinks and a few appetizers.
I ordered a Sidecar and surprise, surprise…it was the best Sidecar I ever had! I’ll have to ask what kind of cognac they used next time I visit so I can try to recreate it at home. It was very smooth and refreshing.
For appetizers, we ordered risotto balls, brie cheese with raspberry jam, and spinach artichoke dip. All of them were delicious! The risotto balls were cheesy and were served with a flavorful tomato sauce. The brie cheese was the usual brie cheese, but that’s OK because brie is very tasty just as it is. We could have used a few more crackers though. The spinach artichoke dip was not what we expected. It was more of a thin cheese-based dip with chunks of artichokes and a little bit of spinach. It was served with really good housemade pita chips, they were warm and really crisp.
I would definitely return to Sava’s either for drinks and appetizers again or to check out their full menu. Just thinking about it is making me hungry!
