Overnight Monkey Bread from Alton Brown
Oh my goodness, was this good! You might think that ground rosemary (we used crushed because we couldn’t find ground) is kind of odd in a sweet monkey bread, but it’s very good! It’s subtle, but really helps to balance out the sweetness of the caramely “goo.” The recipe makes two bundt pans. Dave was able to cut the recipe in half and it turned out just fine. We highly recommend this recipe.
This is the third time Dave has made the stud muffin and it will always be a favorite.
Flaky Buttery Crescent Rolls from King Arthur Flour
Dave made a different crescent roll recipe for Thanksgiving and we think this one from King Arthur was better. It had nice flavor and a lovely tender texture. We thought they were slightly better the day of baking, but were still very good the day after.
Dark Chocolate Salted Caramel Layer Cakefrom Annie’s Eats
The cake was very involved to make, but it turned out quite nicely. The frosting was a bit too rich for me and there was a bit too much buttercream for Dave’s taste. The cake was nice and moist though.
Buckeyes from Smitten Kitchen
Probably the best buckeyes I’ve ever had, they are a lot less sweeter than the typical recipe.
Coconut Orange Pixie Cookies from Natalie’s Killer Cuisine
The dough for this cookie was difficult to work with. It was very sticky and required quite a bit of time in the freezer to make manageable and then the result was just an OK cookie. They also took twice as long to bake as stated in the recipe.
Samoa Bars from Baking Bites
My favorite cookie this year! A little involved to make, but the results are worth it!
I forgot to take a photo of the Layered Black Bean Dip from She Wears Many Hats, but it was delicious!
