Now that Thankgiving is over, we can now talk about Christmas! I’m sure most readers have at least heard of Bronner’s Christmas Wonderland, if not visited the Michigan landmark. One of the first billboards you see when driving across the border to Michigan is one for Bronner’s. If you haven’t been, I recommend checking it out at least once. I highly recommend a visit during the off-season to avoid the crowds. If there’s an ornament of a particular item or hobby out there, most likely you’ll find it here! This year, we bought ourselves stack of pancakes with butter and syrup ornament and in the past we’ve gotten a margarita ornament, a cosmopolitan martini ornament, a DSLR camera ornament, and a hedgehog ornament among others.
Each year, we give our niblings (niece and nephews) a Christmas tree ornament. This tradition was started by my own Aunt Mary, as she gave Megan and I an ornament every year until we were eighteen.
We’ve given our niece four ornaments so far: a baby’s first Christmas pig (her Chinese zodiac is in the year of the pig), a sparkly disco ball, a tropical fish from our cruise, and Elmo. I won’t say what we got her this year, because you know a lot of four year olds read this blog. For our first nephew, we’ve given him a rat (his Chinese zodiac is in the year of the rat) from Chinatown, a sea turtle from our cruise, and an Elmo too. This is the first Christmas for our newest nephew and we’re continuing with the Chinese zodiac theme for first Christmases.
