Revisiting Resolutions
by Rebecca on June 23, 2011
Well, it’s June so we’re already halfway through 2011! At the beginning of the year, Sarah and I both posted our New Year’s Resolutions and also our healthy and happy aspirations for 2011 and I thought now would be a time to look back and review how I’m doing.
Happy Things
Try new recipes
I did great here! I tried all of the recipes that I had listed in that post, except for the zucchini pancakes. I even tried a few that weren’t on the list. They were all excellent, but my favorites were Green Chile Hominy Casserole with Chorizo, Flat Roast Chicken, and Taco Casserole.
Take more photos
I’ve been taking more photos, especially on manual. The new 50mm lens has been great for capturing our Monday night pizza as well as other kitchen creations. I’ve even managed a few photos with it of things that move, like people!
Front door (porch) makeover
We started with making over the front porch, first by cleaning up the flower beds. Buying a new storm door and painting the front door (as well as purchasing new address numbers) are still on the to do list, but I fully intend to knock this one out this summer.
Healthy Things
Iron Goddess Triathlon
Unfortunately, due to a hip/back injury the I incurred running the Detroit Turkey Trot, I’m unable to do the Iron Goddess Triathlon this year. I wasn’t really able to workout much from December through March. And while I’m back to exercise class, the stationary bicycle, and the elliptical, running still hasn’t been in the cards for me. Hopefully next year…
Reach my healthy weight
While I was injured, I kept eating like I was working out so I ended up gaining 15 pounds back over the last 6 months, but now I’m back on track and lost 4.2 pounds last week. I have 20 pounds to go to reach my healthy weight goal and I think I can do it!
Get outdoors
We’ve been hiking several times this year, though I’d like to get out more. We haven’t had the chance to get the bikes out yet and the high river waters have prevented us from kayaking, but soon, very soon!
New Year’s Resolutions
- Lose 15-20 pounds and reach my goal weight.
- Continuing the removal of stuff we don’t need and organizing the stuff we do.
- Draw twice a week.
- Read a book 30 minutes a day.
I’ve already talked about my issues with my weight this year and I’ve not done very well with rest of my resolutions either. I haven’t really worked in the basement to get rid of stuff lately even though we have a big pile of books, clothes, and household items to donate. I haven’t drawn hardly at all and none at all if you don’t count the drawing I do for work. I have been reading more, but not 30 minutes per day. I usually read a couple hours on a couple different days, so it probably all evens out.
So that’s the big update. How are you doing on your resolutions?
