Confession: When I go through a phase on not wanting (or not able) to write or create – especially in relationship to blogging, I watch Julie & Julia. This movie, based on two true stories, inspires on many levels: life, love, motivation, history, beauty, food and blogging. A wonderful treat neatly packaged in two hours. It’s great to recharge and feel the creativity flowing. And even though my internet is less than functioning today, I’m saving these words for a future date.
Here are some of my favorite lines:
“You are the butter to my bread, you are the breath to my life.” (from Paul Child to Julia; later echoed by Julie Powell to Eric)
“Chocolate cream pie! You know what I love about cooking? I love that after a day when nothing is sure and when I say nothing, I mean nothing. You can come home and absolutely know that if you add egg yolks to chocolate and sugar and milk, it will get thick. That’s such a comfort.” (Julie Powell to Eric)
“Home is wherever we are, and we’ll work it out. We can figure it out.” (Paul Child to Julia)
These women lived two very separate and yet similar lives. What would it be like to live in a fancy Paris apartment or a simple place over a pizza parlor in Queens? Either way, the point is that they lived.
All the best to you, dear readers, as you live.
