Avalon International Breads

by Rebecca on March 22, 2011

chocolate brioche

The morning after our Detroit Progressive Dinner we headed to breakfast at Avalon International Breads. I had been there once before, but it was a LONG time ago and Dave had never been, so we took the opportunity to go check it out.

I ordered a chocolate brioche and Dave had the praline pecan French toast. Both were delicious! The chocolate brioche was rich, buttery and slightly sweet. The chocolate was wonderful, not too sweet but super smooth and decadent.  I so totally want one right now! The praline pecan French toast was more of a bread pudding than French toast, but it was still fabulous. They warmed it up and it was rich and custardy on the bottom with the sweet pecans on top.

We also purchased a loaf of Irish soda bread for mom and dad as a thank you for dog sitting, they had a lot of specialty items baked for Fat Tuesday and St. Patrick’s Day. Daily, Avalon offers both yeasted breads and sourdoughs in addition to brioche, sticky buns, scones, cookies, a full range of coffee drinks and more! They only use 100% organic flour.

I’m already thinking about our next visit to Avalon International Breads and the dilemma I’ll face when I’ll have to pick only one thing for breakfast!
