The hotel is located in the heart of Greektown, so its convenient to lots of restaurants, casinos, etc. The hotel is beautiful and the staff were very nice. The room had a front sitting room with couch, chair, coffee table, and large flat screen TV. The bathroom was huge and had a really nice deep soaking tub (except that it leaked!). There was a small staircase outside of the bathroom down the bedroom. A glass block wall separated the bath from the bedroom. The room was good-sized, had a nice large king bed, side tables, desk and a chair, and another large flat screen TV. We had a good view too, you could see the Renaissance Center, which was cool.
However, we didn’t enjoy the most restful night here. The walls are really thin and we heard everyone talking, laughing, singing in the middle of the night. We’re not sure if they were our neighbors or out in the hall, but it sounded like they were in our sitting room! The heater also was really noisy and even at it’s minimum, the room was still way too warm (even for Dave!). Couple the noise with a hard bed and I was a tired girls then next morning!
So while the hotel was gorgeous and the staff courteous, I don’t think I’d stay at the Atheneum again.
