This is the first in a series of interviews with Michigan women business owners. If you have any additional questions for our entrepreneur, please leave them in the comments and I’ll follow-up and post her response.
1. Tell us about your business.
I own a massage/physical therapy practice in Wixom, Integrated Physical Therapy Solutions. My massage business services include therapeutic massage, Reiki, reflexology, craniosacral therapy, and Polarity. The physical therapy practice was formed keeping quality care in mind. With more physical therapists being made to see 2 or more patients at a time, the quality of care has diminished. With Integrated Physical Therapy Solutions, physical therapy will be provided one on one.
2. How did you first become an entrepreneur?
I first became an entrepreneur when I wasn’t happy with my current career position. I felt a drive to do more than just being a staff physical therapist at my current job. I wanted to help people my own way so I decided to go to massage school at Irene’s Myomassology Institute and become a massage therapist. After graduating in May 2008, I began my massage practice which has been continuing to grow.
3. Where do you see yourself and your business in five years?
I hope to see my business to include more than just physical therapy and massage in 5 years. I envision a practice to include accupuncture, life coaching, a nutritionist, holistic medicine doctor, yoga, tai chi, organic supplements and food, organic clothes, and an organic cafe.
4. Any tips for aspiring small business owners?
Tips would be to keep striving for your dream to become a business owner and envision it everyday. Stay positive despite the negativity that surrounds you. You are capable of anything you ever imagined. Anything is possible when you put your heart and soul into it. Do what makes you happy and you can not go wrong.
5. What is your favorite Michigan business/product?
I had a hard time thinking about this one because I, don’t think I have a favorite. I always love products which are handmade. If they are good to the environment and organic, then even better. One I can think of now would be Dress Green products.
