Martha’s Vineyard Bed & Breakfast is located on Michigan’s west coast in the town of South Haven. Dave and I have stayed at Martha’s Vineyard once a year for all four years of our marriage. In fact, our mini moon (our small, local honeymoon after we got married) was at Martha’s Vineyard so it has a special place in our hearts.
Martha’s Vineyard is made up of the main house which has 5 guest rooms and the guest house which has 6 rooms/suites. We’ve never stayed in the main house, our preference is the guest house, especially the Fairhaven Suite, we’ve also stayed in the Brewster. If you stay in the guest house, your breakfast is delivered to your room in a picnic basket, while if you stay in the main house you dine with the rest of the guests on the porch or in the dining room.
The rooms are quite comfortable and include a jacuzzi tub (only in the guest house, and not in the Nantucket Suite), good-sized shower, fireplace, TV with DVD player, and CD player. Depending on the room, you may also have a private porch and chaise lounge/armchair.
The breakfasts are very delicious. During our last stay, we enjoyed caramel apple pancakes, sausage patty, yogurt and granola parfait, and sliced pineapple on the first day. On the second day, we had a potato and parsley frittata, grilled grapefruit, and a stuffed apple cinnamon roll. All of it was perfect!
When we stay we tend to hunker down in our room watching movies, reading books, playing cards. You can borrow DVDs and several board games from the main house as well. There’s a small kitchenette in the guest house with a sink, microwave, and small fridge along with extra silverware, wine glasses, mugs, etc. You can help yourself to hot cocoa, tea, coffee, or microwave popcorn. Snacks are put out at 3:00 pm in the main house ,which included a delicious cheese spread and crackers along with freshly baked peanut butter cookies when we were there.
Ginger and Lou make you feel right at home, they are the ultimate hosts. I expect we’ll be going to Martha’s Vineyard Bed & Breakfast yearly as long as we can!
